Summary

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Individuals will be required to have an expert knowledge of all radiology IT systems to include technical requirements, configuration, daily maintenance, decommissioning etc. Individuals will be required to monitor and review system performance ensuring integrity of patient and image data, being first line support from various sources and escalating any specific issues to the relevant managers/suppliers or the I.T help desk. Undertakingconstant systems surveillance to ensure data and image quality is maintained and ensure correct integration and functionality. Individuals will be required to be involved with the Trusts latest Digital strategy supporting and advising procurement of development/replacements/upgrades, ensuring that radiology IT systems provide the future technical requirements of the services. Individuals will be required to provide training, for all users of all Radiology IT systems. Individuals will be required to take remedial action for mismatched patient data and or images in the event of user or system error. Individuals will be required to provide timely and accurate reports of system activity and data on request. Individuals will be required to support development of departmental policies and procedures associated with the Radiology IT systems Trust wide use. Individuals will be required to ensure that image acquisition, post-processing and storage on the PACS is in line with Data Protection principles. Individuals will be required to identify and remove any anomalies which occur due to disparity between the RIS, PACS and ICE descriptors Individuals will be required to authorise and provide third party access to appropriate and relevant medical images and data where direct access is not possible, ensuring that appropriate processes are in place to share images and receive reports from outsourcing providers. and to produce and maintain accurate data transfer records. Individuals will be required to attend both internal and external PACS/IT related education seminars as required to enhance the service and ensure best practice is followed as required and be able toconduct system demonstrations as required. Individuals will be required to engage with and support Radiology Modality leads regarding equipment integration with PACS and associated technical issues. Individuals will be required to perform regular maintenance tasks on reporting workstations, including monitor QA, to ensure that reporting workstations remain of an adequate quality to function as expected and meet the legal guidelines for reporting. This will include supporting home reporting workstations. Individuals will be required to have a basic knowledge of HTML, PHP & SQL in order to support current live programmes/software and where required create new programmes which will support/improve the radiology service. System Security Individuals will be required to ensure for all sites that the system is operated in accordance with the Trust Information, Security and Confidentiality policy and that all staff who have access are aware of and comply, determining the type ofaccess each user is allowed with regard to classification or sensitivity level. Provideuser passwords for PACS/ RIS and other relevant radiology systems in conjunction with IT policies and administer permissions. Individuals will be required to have an excellent awareness of Data Protection, Security and Freedom of Information policies and their specific relevance to the system and department concerned and ensure that all staff that process information are aware of the policies. Operational Responsibilities Individuals will be required to assist medical staff with images for presentations and research and development where required. Individuals will be required to report incidents in line with Trust and departmental risk management policies and provide support/manage risks where required. Managerial Responsibilities Individuals will be required to act as an expert for the provision of PACS and RIS trust wide, offering guidance and support to all clinical and managerial staff both within and outside of the directorate. Individuals will be required to develop and maintain robust lines of communication between the trust and the system providers / administrators and ensure the system is operated and maintained within the terms and conditions of the PFI contract where applicable. Individuals will be required to act as Line manager for the PACS Administrators and support staff ensuring staff are regularly appraised and have an up to date PDR. Individuals will be responsible for ensuring all sites have adequate PACS/RIS management available during times of absence and/or times of vacancy. Individuals will be responsible for ensuring an innovation culture is embedded with the Systems and Administrative teams and that a programme of continuous improvement is in place. Individuals will be responsible for ensuring that all Superintendent Radiographers, modality leads, Clinical director and Managers are apprised of all issues both technical and competency related that are highlighted through the surveillance of relevant radiology IT systems -PACS/RIS etc. Individuals will be responsible for developing and organising remedial training for any staff who are identified on all radiology related IT systems Individuals will be required to attend local and regional meetings relating to PACS, RIS and other required IT systems as appropriate. Individuals will be responsible for developing and delivering formal training programmes in relation to PACS, RIS and IT systems to staff within Radiology, Consultants, junior medical staff and administrative staff from outside of the Directorate. Individuals will be required to review and comment on continuing appropriateness of imaging protocols and instigate any modifications / changes required in relation to practices involving PACS/RIS etc. Individuals will be responsible for liaison with Education and Training with regard to the provision of PACS/RIS and other Radiology IT systems for all trust staff at induction and ad hoc as necessary. Individuals will be required to participate/lead/advise on the specification of radiology equipment relating to PACS,RIS etc e.g. user licences, workstations. Individuals will be required to participate in and advise on the purchase of services from external suppliers of PACS integrated equipment, e.g. peripherals, licenses, workstation, in conjunction with the relevant Procurement Manager and Radiology Directorate/Service Managers. Individuals will be required to attend departmental meetings providing performance reports and updates as appropriate. Individuals will be required to provide clinical and managerial support to the modality leads and management team. Clinical Responsibilities Individuals will be required to ensure all appropriate infection control measures are utilised, paying particular attention to personal protection as well as the management of IT equipment Individuals will be required to have a good knowledge in regards to with the range of technical applications available on imaging equipment i.e ensure compatibility with new and upgraded IT systems Individuals will be required to support reject analysis, ensuring all results are documented, reported and appropriate actions escalated to relevant meetings. You will be required to develop a good understanding of the current reject analysis process/programme and its technical requirements will be required as this system will need to be maintained. To comprehend, uphold, monitor and adhere to the requirements of latest IRMER guidance To report problems appropriately and assist in the solution of difficulties as they arise. To ensure that all equipment faults are recorded appropriately and reported to the relevant manager. Training and Development To undertake any formal or informal training required to fulfil the needs of the role Use highly specialist knowledge to advise others on the effective delivery of services To expand and update your own technical and professional knowledge where appropriate Provide oversight and guidance for staff and students with regards to training/competence where appropriate To participate in the departmental appraisal process To undertake all mandatory training in line with Trust and Department policies including Manual Handling, Infection Control and Trust Statutory Study Individuals will be required to provide elements of induction training and support for other staff. External Liaison: To liaise with other disciplines in the Trust and to foster good communications within the department and the hospital. To liaise with external regulatory bodies as required when reporting incidents I.e CQC IRMER, Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, including adherence to appropriate Trust policy To participate in extended working hours including weekend and evening duties as required/appropriate by the service/experience To participate in on call as required by the service/as appropriate
