Watney College is an emerging further and higher education institution based in London, with ambitions to become a recognised provider of high-quality, career-focused education. We are preparing to register with the Office for Students (OfS), expand our portfolio of awarding body accreditations, and secure university partnerships for programme validation and progression pathways.

To lead this pivotal phase of development, we are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Partnership and Business Development to join our senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and submission of the OfS registration application, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality requirements.

Manage the registration process with awarding bodies (e.g., Pearson, OTHM, Qualifi), including centre recognition and qualification approval.

Identify and secure university partnerships, including progression, franchising, and validation agreements.

Build and manage relationships with external stakeholders including higher education institutions, professional bodies, employers, and regulators.

Develop and deliver a strategic business development plan aligned with Watney College’s growth objectives.

Represent the college at industry events, meetings, and forums to raise institutional visibility and credibility.

Work collaboratively with academic and operational teams to align curriculum and partnership goals.

Lead and manage the business development and partnership function, reporting directly to the Principal.

Essential Experience and Skills:
Proven experience in leading OfS registration and navigating UK higher education regulatory requirements.
Demonstrable success in securing awarding body accreditations and managing compliance processes.
Strong track record in building and negotiating university partnerships for articulation, franchising, or validation.
In-depth understanding of UK further and higher education structures, quality assurance, and funding.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and project management skills.
Strategic thinker with commercial awareness and experience in institutional development.

Desirable:
Experience working with new or start-up colleges.
Familiarity with OfS, QAA, ESFA, and relevant awarding body frameworks.
Experience in international education or transnational partnerships.
Understanding of student recruitment strategies and progression planning.
