About the roleYou will support the coordination of the day-to-day function and development of the Academy’s Internal Alternative Provision.To ensure pupils are focused and engaged during their time in Alternative Provision.Deliver appropriate behaviour strategies set within the ethos of the Academy which will contribute to improved behaviour and attendance in support of learning in Alternative Provision.To implement a variety of de-escalation strategies in challenging situations involving young people.Support liaison with internal and external agencies and support services as appropriate.Monitor the progress of individual students and set targets for improvement on a daily and/or weekly basis.Act as a parent/carer liaison, maintaining regular contact with home, establishing constructive links, exchanging information, keeping parents informed and facilitating support for their child.To supervise an Alternative Provision room and co-ordinate work from relevant subject areas, including the use of resources designed to support personalised learning and reflection.Liaise with relevant staff to support positive outcomes for pupils referred to Alternative Provision.Work with the inclusion team to identify needs and to ensure that these are met for students.Support and assist students in managing their own behaviour and in achieving their social/emotional and behavioural targets, both inside and outside the classroom.To support students to reintegrate back into mainstream lessons.Liaise with Teaching Assistants and Pastoral Leaders to provide support for SEND or vulnerable students in Alternative Provision.37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time) Salary & Benefits NJC 12, FTE £27,711 per annum, pro rata £24,340.74Access to Local Government Pension Scheme.Regional networks of Trust colleagues and access to key leaders in EducationCommitment to employee Health and Wellbeing including dedicated Employee Assistance ProgrammeAwards and Recognition SchemeFlexible working patternsBenefits Platformholiday discountscinema ticketsrestaurant booking discountsCycle to Work Scheme Who we are looking for Educated to GCSE-level/ NVQ-level 2 or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.Ability to quickly establish positive relationships with pupils and parentsAn understanding of how to manage behaviour positively to maximise learning and promote productive and respectful relationshipsGood interpersonal skills with an ability to command the respect of students and collaborate effectively with staffExperience of teaching, tutoring or supporting students in Alternative ProvisionGood organisational skills and the ability to work under pressureAn understanding of the national curriculum and be able to support students of different abilities and agesKnowledge and understanding of how to adapt practice for SEND studentsThe ability to deal with a range of different student behavioursA flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a teamAwareness of inclusion within a school setting About The David Ross Education TrustThe David Ross Education Trust’s mission is to give every child attending one of our schools a world-class education.We broaden the horizons of young people by inspiring students to become their confident, academic best via an education that creates academically gifted, confident, well-rounded young people in the classroom, in the workplace and in their communities.
