Summary
The tailor is tasked with obtaining the customer's measurements, discussing preferred style and materials, and either creating a custom pattern or adapting an existing one. Properly aligning the pattern on the fabric grain, marking positions, and cutting garment parts using hand shears, electric knives, or cutting machines are integral parts of their role.
The tailor is accountable for pinning or tacking and fitting the garment on the customer or a dummy model, making necessary adjustments as needed. Additionally, they engage in sewing garment parts together, using both hand and machine techniques, creating buttonholes, attaching fasteners and trimmings, and refining the garment's shape by carefully pressing seams and pleats.
Furthermore, the tailor is involved in making alterations to finished garments in accordance with the customer's specifications. Their overall duty is to ensure the final product meets the customer's expectations and requirements.
