Baby Room Lead and Senior Practitioner – Job Description
Current Salary conditions: £13.00 per hour.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in the daily running of the Little Ladybird’s room, providing leadership and inspiration to colleagues, and creating an engaging, inclusive, and stimulating environment for the children in your care.
Responsibilities:
• Leading the Little Ladybirds room aged 0-2 years, in inspiring a team of childcare practitioners.
• Deliver high quality learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Act as a key person for a group of children, maintaining accurate online learning journals, assessments and liaising closely with families.
• Coaching and modelling outstanding childcare practice and contributing to the development of team members and apprentices.
• Creating a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment, encouraging independence and social development.
• Monitoring children’s progress and contributing to planning and delivery of activities that support their learning and wellbeing.
• Lead the day-to-day running of the Little Ladybirds room and nursery, stepping into a senior lead role when required.
• Attend planning, training, and curriculum meetings, including sessions outside of working hours.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and positive behaviour at all times.
• Understand and promote the importance of outdoor learning and engagement in nature.
• Work within and promote our Core Beliefs and Guiding Principles at all times.
Requirements:
• A Level 3 or above qualification in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
• Proven experience of leading within an EYFS setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, early year’s child development, and inclusive practice.
• Additional training such as Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, Attachment Theory or SEN knowledge is desirable.
• Excellent communication and observation skills.
• Strong understanding of early brain development, particularly in the under 2 age phase.
• A warm, enthusiastic, and professional attitude with a genuine passion for high quality early years education.
• Willingness to attend training and contribute to the ongoing success of the nursery.
