The post-holder will be integral to the faculty achieving its aspirations, goals and objectives and will drive business planning and performance management as determined by the Universities strategic plan.
This role will have management oversight for the Academic Service Manager in Academic Services and the Business Operations Officer and will work closely with them in realising the vision for discipline areas, facilitating the implementation of new initiatives, delivery of the academic offer and in ensuring appropriate performance monitoring.
This is a senior management role with oversight of strategy and academic and business planning including the use of business and sector intelligence to drive the faculty’s ambitions.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist and professional advice to the Faculty Senior Management Team including but not limited to assisting Dean/Deputy Dean with objective and strategic development along with generating and implementing relevant KPI’s
2. Ensure the effective operation of the academic services provision of the faculty including optimal allocation of academic and infrastructure resources.
3. To lead the Faculty Academic Services team, ensuring staff have a supportive and enabling environment in which they can deliver objectives, develop their own performance, and provide excellent customer service.
4. Identify and lead on the development of new income streams for the academic portfolio, as well as support the strategic academic programme delivery.
5. Direct and support Academic staff in the faculty in achievement of corporate and faculty objectives.
6. Provide reports on forecasts and recommend courses of action to achieve objectives.
7. Undertake objective analysis, and using external monitoring of management information along with sector analysis, benchmark data to generate ideas and inform opportunities and priorities
8. Prepare and present reports on strategic plans and operating statements and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
9. Overall responsibility for delivering the academic office provision to a high standard, including the provision of key performance indicators against agreed targets
10. Develop and manage projects both faculty specific and university wide.
11. Ensure continuous improvement in academic and budgetary performance
12. Support staff to demonstrate their commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory behaviour. This role includes making time available for staff to undertake mandatory equality and diversity training.
13. Raise awareness amongst staff and support staff to fulfil their responsibilities to comply with University regulations, policies and procedures.
14. To undertake any other requirements commensurate with the seniority of the post/as required by the head of department
