Provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance (in line with NMC standards), expert clinical advice and undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal and professional requirements, statutory rules and St Peters Hospice policies relating to evidence-based practice. Be responsible for the efficient management of the ward/clinical area budget, effectively deploying the nursing team and utilising the allocated resources and raising any financial expenditure concerns to the IPU Matron in a timely manner. Work and communicate effectively as a member of the senior clinical and nursing leadership team within St Peters Hospice collaborating with other senior leaders. Demonstrate the Values of St Peters Hospice, excellence, collaboration, compassion, respect and passion. Ensure the care within the IPU is safe, effective, responsive, caring and wellled. Provide professional leadership to nurses, and students, acting as a role model within the Inpatient Unit ensuring that competence in managerial and clinical practice is both developed and maintained. To work effectively and proactively with the IPU Matron to deliver areas of St Peters Hospice strategy. Highly visible, accessible, authoritative and influential figure on whom staff, patients, families and care can rely, to ensure the fundamentals of care are delivered effectively and efficiently. The post holder will be expected to take a lead on bed management, coordinating admissions and transfer of patients from and to the unit to maintain good patient flow. Provide clear leadership for the nursing team, working flexibly as a member of the department team to ensure standards are being maintained. Lead the management of infection control for the clinical area in accordance with St Peters Hospices policies. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to less experienced/ nonregistered and new staff at all times. Participate in the Clinical on Call Rota.
