Bristol Dental Hospital is a Centre of Excellence providing routine and specialist clinical dental services for the South-West. Committed to delivering exceptional patient care and investing in the development of our staff, we are seeking dedicated anaesthetic and recovery ODP’s or experienced Registered Nurses (Recovery) to work in our theatre from Monday to Friday.

You can choose from either full time or part time positions across our Paediatric Day Case Theatreunit. No weekends, no on call and no bank holidays!

enthusiastic and motivated staff to join us who will demonstrate a similar sensitive, empathetic and
holistic approach.
You will work within the Paediatric Day Case Theatre Unit, within the Dental Hospital. This department provides general anaesthesia for children up to the age of 16yrs undergoing dental treatment. Within your role, you will continue to gain knowledge and develop your skills across oral surgery, complex care and general dentistry services for children.
Anaesthetic Practitioner role:
Assist in the provision of care to patients undergoing general anaesthesia throughout their theatre journey as directed and supported by the team leader.
• Working collaboratively with the anaesthetist and MDT providing all anaesthetic equipment required for the theatre list
• Completing pre-op safety checks, preparing drugs, monitoring patient observations, patient positioning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based patient care and completion of documentation.
• Offer support to children and their families/carers via clear communication ensuring any additional specific needs are met.
Recovery Role:
Recovery of patients in the immediate post operative period. Working autonomously to monitor and
assess the patient, using ABCDE approach, through to discharge.
• Receive handover from anaesthetist, ensure airway is patent, removal of airway devices, ensure haemostasis, administer analgesics as required, share post operative instructions with families/carers/translators, book review appointments.
• Assess, implement and evaluate evidence-based patient care, complete documentation, and patient discharge.
• Strong communication skills are required to ensure families are supported, and leave with full understanding of the procedure and post op care instructions.
