Social Care & Education have an exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated and experienced Senior Children’s Support Worker to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. In this role, you will lead and support a team of Support Workers in delivering exceptional care to young people with complex needs.
You will assist the Home Manager in maintaining a safe, positive, and structured home environment while ensuring that the individual care and development needs of young people are consistently met. This role requires strong leadership, resilience, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct care and support to young people, ensuring their emotional, physical and social needs are met through individualised care plans.
• Supervise, mentor and support other Support Workers during shifts, promoting consistent high standards of care and professionalism.
• Support young people with their daily routines, education, leisure activities, personal care and community participation.
• Act as a positive role model, encouraging young people to build confidence, develop life skills and engage positively with others.
• Complete and oversee the accurate recording of daily reports, incident logs, medication records, risk assessments and care documentation.
• Assist the Home Manager in reviewing and updating care plans and behaviour support strategies.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, care reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings, sharing insights and supporting care planning.
• Support in the safe management of challenging behaviour, following approved behaviour management practices and safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure the welfare, safety and security of all young people and staff within the home.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and child-centred home environment that meets Ofsted and organisational standards.
Requirements:
• A minimum of one year’s experience working in a children’s residential care setting is essential.
• Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People (or equivalent) is essential.
• Previous experience supervising or supporting staff within a residential care environment is preferred.
• A full United Kingdom driving licence is preferred.
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including long days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as part of a rota.
