Female Personal Care Assistant required to assist a young male, with a significant Physical & Neurological disability, living in the Airdrie area.
You would be required to provide one to one care and assistance within their home, and in the community including attending to personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:
· Support to attend Life skills Provision until beginning of August
· Support one day per week in college from September
· Community activities including to go for lunch, bowling, meeting friends
· Support required to eat and drink
· Hoist transfer
· Attending to all personal care needs (showering, toileting including bowel movements, shaving)
· Assisting with medication, PEG/gastrostomy use
· Preparing meals and healthy snacks, blended diet
· Moving and assisting - pushing manual wheelchair
· Light Housework duties
· Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
The most important qualities are a good sense of humour, a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.
Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.
Pets in the household – you must be comfortable working with a dog & cat in the home.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Experience is preferred, but not essential as training will be provided.
Driver with a Full UK Automatic Driving Licence is essential as you will be required to drive an automatic mobility vehicle.
Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility)
Recruiting for 1 position.
Guaranteed permanent position of 17 hours per week
Days and Times:
Until end of July:Monday & Tuesday 2:30pm – 9:00pm
From August 1st: Monday 9:00am – 3:30pm & Tuesday: 12:00pm – 6:30pm
From now onwards: Alternating weekends Friday 4:30pm – 8:30pm one week & Saturday 11:00am – 3:00pm the following week
Flexibility appreciated if there is an evening event.
Hourly rate:
£12.60 per hour
