DWP Digital are transforming the way we undertake security for customers, people and services. This role within our Adaptive Security Programme is leading a delivery team with an objective to improve the Department’s security posture across our estate of Digital Services, embedding security controls to ensuring we are secure by design.
This role exercises considerable discretion in achieving security focused delivery objectives across a number of functional areas with direct responsibility for all delivery resources supporting them to achieve your objectives and lead the overall delivery activities of an extended virtual team.
We are looking for an experienced leader of Digital Projects/programmes within a complex stakeholder environment, setting the pace and standards for delivery with internal teams.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage both the complexity of larger-scale delivery but also the interpersonal motivational issues that arise in such an environment.
- Drive the pace of delivery across the programme, working with other senior leaders and product managers to plan implementation, remove blockers, manage risks, suppliers and people assignments. Define issues and make decisions in ambiguous situations with incomplete information and make evidence based decisions.
- Resolve the more complex and difficult problems arising from the day-to-day delivery management. Requiring application of interpretive and creative thinking to judge the most appropriate of several possible alternative solutions or courses of action or to develop new applications of existing principles.
- Help high performance teams to continuously improve, creating a safe environment for all teams and encouraging them to experiment and making failure a safe part of learning.
- Lead by example, acting as a servant-leader, demonstrating the right behaviours. Deal with conflict, helps establish a team culture that allows for constructive criticism and encourages collaboration in complex organisational environments.
- Be accountable for leading major delivery discussions at all Director levels across DWP that may cover complex issues, requiring strong stakeholder management, negotiation and prioritisation skills. Building and maintaining relationships, reconciling priorities and agreeing action at a senior level.
