JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I’m a 56 year old woman living in Barry with my husband and daughter. I am registered sight impaired with no functioning vision. I’m a double amputee with a history of heart attacks.
My interest are animals, TV, music and a good natter.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
You will provide respite for my husband who is my main carer. You will support me with personal care at home.
HOURS OF WORK
4.25 hours per week, Mon – Fri mornings
RATES OF PAY
£14.00 per hour
TASKS WILL INCLUDE
Full support with personal care tasks and dressing
Monitoring pressure sores on coccyx
General assistance around the home, providing verbal guidance
Preparing light meals for me at home
Pushing me in my wheelchair in the home, providing minimal assistance with transfers
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
You must have a confident, clear and direct approach in communication
You’ll be able to lead and initiate conversations, actively keeping me engaged
Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed
Proactive in situations and be able to problem solve on your own initiative
A sensible and mature person
You must be flexible, understanding that shifts, days and times may change with short notice
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a four-weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
