Job Purpose:I am an elderly gentleman with a diagnosis of vascular dementia and am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to provide sits and respite for my wife. I am not always able to find the right words in a conversation and tends to sit quietly and listen.Due to my condition, I am not able to recognise when I am hungry and thirsty, you would therefore need to ensure that I eat and drink. Sometimes I do not swallow my food properly and tend to store food in my mouth. You would need to check that I am swallowing my food and not choking.Other tasks would include checking that I am safe and comfortable.Location: Banham, NR16Details:Providing respite.Assisting at mealtimes and with drinks.Ensuring I am safe.Person specificationEssential:Caring and empathetic.Flexible.Desirable:Experience of looking after someone with dementia. Dementia awareness.Summary terms and conditions:· The rate of pay for this position is £12.38 per hour· Hours and times of work: 10 hours per week, arranged flexibly. Exact days and times of work advised in advance.· The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.· This position requires the employee to complete the following free annual training: GDPR, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene. Post is subject to the following:· A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.· Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.· Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
