About the job

Interview date: 16 June 2025

The Faculty of Health, Education and Society are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer to contribute to the Pre-registration BSc Nursing Programme and FdSc Nursing Associate. Applicants from all fields of nursing will be welcomed, but an adult nursing registration would be beneficial. The successful applicant will provide input of all modules situated in the undergraduate curriculum.

The undergraduate nursing area includes BSc Nursing in Adult, Children and Young People, Mental Health and Learning Disability and FdSc Nursing Associate. Both routes are also offered via an apprenticeship. We are committed to supporting students and strive for high quality experiences which is reflected in our high Guardian League table ranking and NSS scores.

The successful applicant will support the teaching, learning and assessment of pre-registration nursing and nursing associate students both on campus, online via a blended learning approach or in clinical. The learner voice and experience will be central to all aspects of course delivery. The post will include that of personal teacher and academic assessor.

The post holder, alongside the programme team, will be responsible for ensuring adherence to quality assurance processes and professional regulatory requirements to support the high-quality delivery of this programme of education.

For further information or to discuss the vacancy, please contact Ruth Smith (Subject Lead): ruth.smith@northampton.ac.uk

Whilst remote working is available for this post the number of days per week will vary during each semester depending on the requirements of the post, this will be discussed in more detail at interview.

This post is subject to a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service before any appointment can be confirmed.

About you

You must be an experienced Registered Nurse – experience in a variety of settings would be considered. Experience of teaching and assessing in a university or clinical setting will be an advantage so that you can evidence and demonstrate your ability to work across the pre-registration curriculum at levels 4, 5 and 6.

The post ideally requires an individual with experience in the community, private and voluntary sector although experience in all areas of practice is welcomed. An interest in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology and associated long term conditions would also be an advantage.

You will also possess effective communication, digital and organisational skills.
