Summary
The Business Analysis team is a new inter-disciplinary team of analysts whose mission is to provide impactful and relevant products, tools, guidance and advice to front-facing investment teams so as to ensure they are in the best position to communicate with and influence the most significant and beneficial foreign investors into the UK.
The team is embedded directly in the Office For Investment and will work across and directly with Operational and Policy colleagues in a consultancy style format, bringing together both traditional and non-traditional data including direct business intelligence together into a cohesive framework. The team will produce accessible and effective tools to ensure that front-facing teams are well informed and have clear guidance to be effective in their roles.
We are hiring an SEO Analyst in the Corporate Intelligence area of the Business Analysis team. Our multi-disciplinary team will start engaging with foreign companies going forward to promote the UK as an investment destination. The postholder will therefore develop market analysis of the UK business landscape including deep dives into sectors and companies in order to attract FDI. The role will involve creating and delivering sophisticated tailored presentations in meetings with external clients to advise them on investing in the UK. This will involve becoming an expert in the field and analysing and understanding the business landscape of a range of sectors and regions, while communicating in a highly professional and engaging manner.
The postholder will work across multiple stakeholders, working collaboratively across the wider Investment Analysis division, as well as across department and organisational boundaries with relevant policy, operational and analytical specialists to influence both operational and strategic guidance. This includes working specifically with the Overseas Network of Investment Officers, the central Investment Delivery and Marketing divisions within OFL and the Digital, Data and Technology team within DBT.
As an SEO Analyst within the team you will be responsible for:
- Analytical deep dives into sectors, regions and firms in order to promote the UK as an investment destination and to support foreign companies’ investment decisions. Coding, data science and econometric techniques may be useful here that cover the state of investment and opportunities; secondary impacts of potential investment and benefits to investors.
- Bespoke investor facing products that showcase high-value investors and the opportunities of investing in the UK including the gains to the business based on individual corporate strategies.
- Providing front-line consulting economic support in client facing meetings. This includes sophisticated PowerPoint presentations to communicate market analysis to sell the UK as an FDI destination.
- Delivery of an investment environment/ competitiveness report - that provides an insight on the performance of the UK investment environment relative to other countries and how this can be improved.
- Contributing to wider team development, including task management and support for junior analysts and a wider corporate contribution to DBT.
Department for Business and Trade
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) seeks to improve economic growth. We help businesses by improving access to finance and making regulations business friendly. Our goal is to promote British businesses globally, help business export, drive inward and outward investments, and negotiate market access and Free Trade Agreements.
Foreign investment
This is an exciting time to work on foreign investment promotion and policy in government. Foreign investment plays a vital role in the UK economy.
Foreign investment drives growth across the UK, making significant contributions to government objectives such as the Industrial Strategy, Net Zero and regional growth. DBT plays a crucial role through programmes delivered by staff in the UK and globally, working closely with foreign investors to land investment projects across the UK and in all sectors.
With the creation of the expanded Office for Investment (OfI), there is an increasing recognition that evidence and analysis can underpin a faster paced and flexible offering to foreign businesses seeking to invest, while also allowing for a more rigorous and well-formed view of how the OfI should be targeting there offerings so as to maximise the benefit to wider society.
