As a key part of the team, the Community Wardens link across the borough, acting as a highly visible presence, within neighbourhood areas. They link to all sections of the community, working in partnership with other council services, partner agencies including Police, Fire & Rescue Service, local groups and organisations.
Wardens seek to improve the wellbeing of local residents, and make their neighbourhoods safer, cleaner and more enjoyable places in which to live. They visit schools, local businesses and liaise closely with other agencies and departments within the borough to try to solve problems in the community as quickly and efficiently as possible.
As part of the council’s wider enforcement team the community wardens engage with communities to encourage positive behaviours and compliance around a number of issues such as environmental blight; including fly tipping, waste accumulations, littering, dog fouling and other community safety concerns.
The successful candidates will be passionate about serving the local community through a flexible approach and possess an understanding of working as part of a team. They will be committed to a problem-solving approach and have demonstrable communication and organisational skills, as well as be familiar with working in a customer focused role. A full UK Driving licence is desirable.
Are you interested in becoming a Community Warden? We will be holding an informal drop-in on Tuesday 13 May 2025 12.00 – 15.00 at Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre, Queens Rd, Halifax, HX1 4NE. This is an opportunity to come along and find out more about the role and the Neighbourhood Team.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
