Job Description Medical Receptionist Job Title: Medical Receptionist Reports to: Practice Manager / Reception Lead Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Salary: 12.21ph Location: Riverside Family Practice, St Peters Health Centre, Burnley, BB11 2DLJob Summary: To provide an efficient and friendly front-line service to patients, visitors, and the wider healthcare team. The post holder will undertake a variety of administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the practice and ensure patients receive timely and professional service, whether in person or over the phone.Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide a welcoming and professional reception service to all patients and visitors. Answer incoming telephone calls, dealing with enquiries or directing calls appropriately. Make, amend, and cancel patient appointments using the clinical system (EMIS Web). Record and pass on messages accurately and in a timely manner. Process repeat prescription requests and liaise with clinicians and pharmacies as needed. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in line with GDPR and practice policies. File, scan, and retrieve medical records and documents using electronic systems. Register new patients and update existing patient details. Assist with incoming and outgoing post. Support the clinical team with general administrative tasks as required. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as necessary. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high standards of service delivery. Key Skills and Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment. Confident IT skills; experience with EMIS or similar clinical systems is desirable. Respect for patient confidentiality and understanding of data protection principles.
