We are recruiting for a leading wiring harness manufacturer based in Wimborne, Dorset. The company deliver precision-built wire harnesses tailored to the unique specifications of our clients across industries such as automotive, communications, defence, and oil.

With a highly specialist team, the company build complex harness configurations for harsh and rugged environments using a wide range of terminations, connectors, and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Hours:

8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)

Role Overview:

As a Prototype Wireperson, you will be responsible for the assembly of one-off or low-volume wire harness prototypes to exacting standards. You will work from drawings, schematics, and verbal instructions to deliver bespoke wiring solutions. This role is key in supporting the product development and testing phases, requiring a high level of attention to detail, flexibility, and technical skill.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble prototype wiring harnesses from detailed drawings, schematics, and verbal instructions.
Interpret technical documentation and identify component requirements.
Terminate wires using crimping, soldering, and other industry-standard techniques.
Route and dress wiring according to layout specifications.
Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting of prototype assemblies.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine harness designs and resolve build issues.
Maintain high standards of workmanship and adherence to quality procedures.
Record build notes and provide feedback for process improvements.

Skills & Experience Required:

Proven experience in wiring harness assembly, ideally in prototype or low-volume production environments.
Proficient in soldering, crimping, and using hand tools relevant to cable assembly.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience with various connector types, shielding, overmoulding, and cable management techniques.
Strong manual dexterity and keen attention to detail.
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards is desirable.
Experience working to defence, automotive or aerospace standards is a plus.
