Position Summary:
The Senior Langari is the Sevadaar responsible for the spiritual and operational oversight of Guru ka Langar in the Gurdwara. This individual plays a vital role in upholding Sikh values of equality, humility, and selfless service (Seva) through the preparation, coordination, and respectful distribution of Langar to the Sangat (congregation).
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and participate in the daily preparation of Langar in accordance with Sikh Maryada (code of conduct).
Coordinate and train volunteers (Sevadaars) in kitchen operations and service protocol.
Ensure all food preparation adheres to high standards of hygiene, safety, and spiritual cleanliness.
Organise and oversee Langar for special events, Akhand Paaths, and Gurpurabs.
Manage kitchen inventory, supplies, and liaise with suppliers when necessary.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment in the Langar Hall, promoting unity and equality.
Report to the Gurdwara Committee on kitchen needs, volunteer engagement, and overall operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Deep respect for and understanding of Sikh values and traditions.
- Experience in community kitchen or food service (professional or voluntary).
- Leadership skills in volunteer coordination and kitchen team management.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness, discipline, and calm in a busy kitchen environment.
Personal Qualities:
- Practicing Sikh with a commitment to Seva.
- Humble, respectful, and community-oriented.
- Able to work cooperatively with diverse individuals in a spiritual setting.
