Hourly Rate: £30-£35 per hour (PAYE) - This is case dependant
Location: Bournemouth and surrounding areas
Working Days: Monday to Friday (Term-Time Only)
Hours: 9:00 am-4:30 pm (flexible working)
Role Focus: One-to-One Teaching for Functional Skills Maths and English, SEN, SEMH, and medical needs
Are you passionate about helping students achieve their potential in Maths and English?
We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Maths and English Teacher ready to inspire, motivate, and empower young learners with diverse needs. In this role, you will provide tailored academic and emotional support to students facing challenges such as Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, and medical conditions. You will deliver personalised lessons focused on Functional Skills in Maths and English, helping students build the literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for everyday life.
What You Will Do:
- Create Safe Learning Spaces: Foster a supportive, nurturing environment where students feel confident to take risks and build their skills in practical Maths and English.
- Personalise Learning: Develop and implement bespoke learning plans for each student, tailored to their individual needs and abilities in Maths and English Functional Skills.
- Support Families and Carers: Collaborate with families to ensure a holistic approach to learning and provide guidance on how they can support their child's progress in Maths and English at home.
- Inspire Growth: Deliver engaging, empathetic lessons that build confidence, resilience, and practical skills that students can use in everyday situations.
- Be a Role Model: Lead by example, promoting positive behaviours and values that encourage lifelong learning and personal development.
What You Bring:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g., PGCE).
- Minimum two years' teaching experience in Functional Skills Maths and English, ideally with students facing SEN or SEMH challenges.
- Experience in delivering Functional Skills Maths and English at Entry Level to Level 2, with a proven ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
- Experience working with SEN students and knowledge of strategies to support them in developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service and the legal right to work in the UK.
- Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of every student.
