Identify which babies require screeningLiaise effectively with parents, NHSP members and other health care professionalsOffer the automated otoacoustic emission (AOAE) or Automated auditory brain response(AABR) screening test and gain informed verbal consentCarry out the hearing screening of newborns and accurately record clinical and test data Promote a professional, welcoming and caring environment endorsing a family friendlyapproach to careMaintain up to date knowledge of NHSP procedures and protocols relevant to the role ofNHSP screener Always maintain the confidentiality of the babies and their familiesAlways ensure the safety and security of equipment and report any problems to the NHSPlocal manager at the earliest opportunity. Ensure babies and families retain their dignity, privacy and individuality at all times Be aware of safeguarding issues and adhere to local procedures Be prepared to undertake the Nation Newborn Hearing Screening Diploma.Communicate and liaise with SCBU staff to identify any babies being discharged that needhearing screening completingEnsure all eligible babies are screened prior to discharge home.Ensure appropriate and timely referral to Audiology of any babies that fail the screen or arenot eligible for screening.Undertake Screening in an outpatient setting for any babies that are not screened inhospital, or do not complete screening prior to discharge.To be confident in the use of IT systems such as Microsoft Office as the role requiresexcellent IT skills.Performing equipment checks and identifying and reporting faults
