Thomson Garden Services is offering an apprenticeship opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual looking to start a career in landscaping. This hands-on role provides training in a variety of outdoor services, including paving, fencing, lawn care, and general garden maintenance.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the planting, pruning, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, flowers,
and lawns
• Prepare and maintain landscapes, including turf laying, hedge trimming, and
soil cultivation
• Operate and maintain hand tools and basic machinery safely
• Learn about pest control, disease management, and soil improvement
techniques
• Carry out general garden and grounds maintenance tasks
• Follow health and safety regulations and company policies
• Support senior team members in various horticultural and landscaping
projects
Desired Skills Required:
• A keen interest in horticulture, gardening, and landscaping
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required
• No prior experience required, but any gardening or landscaping experience is a
plus
Working week: 7:30 – 15:30 Monday to Friday, however may include odd Saturday if poor weather during week.
Delivery to be completed on-site and 20% off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work. Student to complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard – Horticulture Landscape Operative.
