Are you a registered Nurse, Social Worker or Allied Health Professional looking for a unique new CAMHS role?

Do you want to be part of a ground-breaking scheme successfully providing children & young people with faster access to support?

We’re looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our CAMHS team as part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). You’ll be part of an innovative project, enhancing joint working in Primary Care, that’s already making a significant impact and delivering outstanding outcomes.

You’ll spend 2.5 days working in Berkshire Healthcare’s experienced Getting Help team, and 2.5 days at 3 GP surgeries in Windsor & Maidenhead. You’ll support young people presenting with emotional wellbeing and mental health concerns, making it easier for them to access the right help quickly.

Your role will include:
• Assessing young people’s needs
• Using your CAMHS knowledge to provide rapid access to services
• Managing a small caseload
• Provide training, advice and consultation to GPs, PCN staff and other MDT members on the mental health needs of children and families and local referral processes.

This role offers excellent supervision, development opportunities and the chance to further enhance your assessment and formulation skills, while contributing to a forward-thinking scheme that’s already proving to deliver successful outcomes.

• Conduct assessments and triage for children and young people presenting with mental health concerns, including same-day and planned appointments.
• Screen, assess, and signpost young people to appropriate local services, such as youth counselling, peer support, and other community resources.
• Facilitate referrals and ensure all necessary information is provided to support referral pathways.
• Help young people develop coping strategies and build on their strengths to manage mental health challenges.
• Work with CAMHS to provide crisis support and avoid unnecessary admissions, responding quickly and effectively when needed.
• Represent patients in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, offering input into clinical management and ongoing support.
• Provide advice and consultation to GPs and other MDT members on the mental health needs of children and families.
• Work closely with CAMHS and other services to ensure smooth access to care, helping young people find the best support for their needs

The must haves for this role:
• Qualification in an appropriate mental health core profession and registration with relevant body (as per the job specification)
• Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties
• Passion for providing collaborative and evidence-based mental health care
• Enthusiasm for multi-professional and multi-agency working
