Hours per week: 10 hours per week. Monday to Friday afternoons with the option of some weekend work. Specific times to be discussed and agreed upon at the interview and with some flexibility for the right person.

As a single mum, my daughter is my absolute world. She would describe me as fun, imaginative, loving and giving - and I'm determined to give her the childhood she deserves while maintaining an active life with friends, family and community. I became a single parent in very challenging circumstances and that has combined with my disability worsening and practical problems piling up and is blocking me from some of the gains I still can make. I urgently need a personal assistant who shares my positive outlook to move forward to a better place, I know I can achieve with help.

You'll manage appointments, tackle medication schedules, sort paperwork, and transform those intimidating official letters into manageable tasks. Your reliable follow-up will help compensate for my brain fog, while your adaptable nature will respond to our changing daily needs.
The perfect person will balance gentle encouragement on my tough days with enthusiastic energy that helps us make the most of good days. You'll be able to think quickly on your feet, complete what you start, and find satisfaction in creating the structure that allows me to be the mum I want to be and the active, bubbly person I used to be.
No specific experience required - your genuine care, reliability, and natural organisational talent matter most. We’d love you to support our family and make a meaningful difference while being truly valued for the gift of support you bring to our lives!

Personal Care Support - All personal care can be completed independently at the moment, it is but having someone there in case something goes wrong (e.g. helping me, or getting my daughter, in and out of the bath)
Candidate qualities:
Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Organised and Observant. For example being able to notice when household products are running low and inform me in plenty of time.
Problem Solver: Capable of thinking on your feet and finding the best ways to assist, especially when my fibromyalgia flares up and affects my memory
Additional requirements Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes: All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required. Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives.
