Key Responsibilities

Assessing the data held on Home Office systems and paper records under the DPA 2018 and making decisions on whether to disclose or apply restrictions. Caseworkers must be able to justify any restrictions they make on a disclosure.
Acting in a timely manner upon any requests/tasks you receive to respond to Subject Access Requests to ensure the One Month target is met.
Working within a team of over 90 Caseworkers based across the Sheffield and Croydon estates, communicating effectively with internal stakeholders and customers both in person and remotely.
Working within the legal policies and procedures set by the GDPR and the Unit.
Escalating policy or procedural issues/complexities to SARU's Internal Compliance Team promptly.
Prioritising weekly allocation of caseload to deal with urgent cases from Pre Action Protocols (PAPs) to Information Commissioners Office (ICO) complaints and cases nearing target. When required, you may need to complete additional case-working tasks.
Accepting and acting upon feedback and guidance from Quality Checkers and managers and undertaking refresher training whenever necessary.
Developing an awareness of and participating willingly in SARU’s Transformation agenda.
Playing an active role in team meetings whether in person or remotely and be able to work well with others in the Casework Team and wider SARU to achieve target goals.

Training

Comprehensive training and post-training support will be provided for the role.

Working Pattern

This role is available on a full-time basis. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 4 days / 24 hours per week due to business requirements.

This role is based in Croydon and Sheffield only. It is expected that staff will attend one of these two offices on a hybrid basis of, currently, 60% of time spent in the office. During the training period, this may need to be extended to 100% of time in the office according to the training schedule.
