Summary

We are looking for experienced Senior Solution Architects who are confident working on products & services in a complex digital environment, where you’ll be supporting major initiatives within either our Health & Disability or Children & Families functions.

These roles will involve collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across DWP Digital to support the delivery of solutions, creating options and recommendations, and providing expert advice to drive technology choice decisions, working alongside internal DWP Digital teams and multiple external third parties.

These roles are ideally suited to solution architects with experience of large and complex solutions delivered using a wide range of technologies both in-house and by 3rd party suppliers. The roles will include the design, oversight and architecture governance of IT solutions that support DWP customers.

As a Senior Solution Architect, you will:

  • Design products to meet user needs and align with DWP strategy and standards.
  • Provide a consistent set of product architecture views, that communicate and describe the construction of the solution to all stakeholders.
  • Champion solution communication, making the complex simple to understand.
  • Support delivery teams, blending technical (development and architecture) and behaviour (leadership and communication) skills.

Key tasks include:

  • Delivering and supporting the technical and architecture design for the whole service.
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, to create VFM solution designs that meet user needs, typically in multi-disciplinary agile teams.
  • Creating solution options and recommendations during project discovery and inception phases, to drive decision making on best solution design.
  • Creating high-level solution architecture documentation and architecture design artefacts for governance, including all relevant SME input.
  • Ensuring technical quality and adherence of Product designs to the Digital Blueprint, Enterprise Architecture and Product Roadmaps.
  • Engaging with Domain and Lead Solution Architects and engineers to implement solutions according to agreed and approved designs.
  • Advocating and supporting delivery of solutions that reduce architecture complexity and reduce technical debt.
  • Identifying, capturing, iterating, and implementing architecture patterns.
  • Sharing best practice and reference architectures.
