Due to our continued steady expansion, we now have the opportunity for an experienced Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer to bring their experience, professionalism, and enthusiasm to the Building Services team at Align Property Services in Cumbria.
If successful, you will join our team working to deliver on Schools and Corporate Maintenance programmes across the local authorities in Cumbria, ensuring the buildings where our children are educated and where local people work are safe, modern, and efficient. You will have the opportunity to support Cumbrian capital works programmes, developing and modernising communities across the county.
As a Principal Electrical Engineer
You will work closely with the Technical Director to support and lead the wider team in providing a variety of services including those relating to building pathology, design, project management, building surveys and contract administration as well as producing early design advice through to detailed electrical services design.
Your previous experience in Electrical Services Engineering will have given you the ability to manage your workload effectively, with the ability appreciate complex situations and communicate clearly when working closely with other disciplines to deliver engineering solutions to meet client’s budgets and programmes.
You will be able to advise on Health and Safety issues, fire safety and sustainability throughout the design and construction period of projects, considering the Construction Design and Management Regulations. As someone who is proactive, you will look for new challenges and be committed to maintaining an annual programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
To be successful in this position, you will:
Hold a degree or HNC in Building Services/Electrical Engineering with post qualification experience.
Have substantial industry experience working as senior engineer.
Prepare electrical surveys and condition survey reports.
Investigate and analyse services defects to develop solutions to system failures.
Prepare feasibility studies and decarbonisation/sustainability reports.
Produce RIBA stage electrical design and drawings, technical specifications, schedules of works and other documents to high standards in conjunction with internal and external design disciplines.
Work as part of a team
Support and develop other engineers
Supervise and monitor Electrical installation work on site (Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor).
Be IT proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk AutoCAD and NBS software, Revit.
Demonstrate knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
Prepare applications for utility supplies for new and existing buildings.
Hold a full UK driving license with the ability to travel.
