What skills and experience we're looking for

EYFS Class Teacher (1 Year Post)

The core purpose of our school is to build a strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning. We are currently looking for an EYFS teacher, that is fully committed to this purpose, to join our team. Someone with the skills and enthusiasm needed to build children's core skills while cultivating an enduring passion for learning.

Successful candidates will be appointed to the Heigham Community Federation, a partnership between Recreation Road Infant School and Avenue Junior School.

Start date 01/09/2025

About the role

• Are you a strong Early Years practitioner with at least 1 years of EYFS experience?
• Do you have passion and enthusiasm for inclusive Early Years education?
• Are you able to transmit that passion and enthusiasm to children and your classroom staff?
• Are you passionate about continuous provision, but also committed to developing all EYFS children’s core academic skills, regardless of background and circumstances?
• Do you see EYFS as part of an integrated learning journey through school, rather than its own distinct entity?
• Are you prepared to work with families as full partners in their children’s learning journeys?

We are looking for candidates who are:

• are energetic, hard-working and have a clear passion for Early Years education;
• are committed to ensuring excellent all-round outcomes for our children and effective transition into Year 1;
• are effective teachers of phonics;
• communicate with skill, confidence and authenticity; with children and adults alike;
• have excellent listening and relationship-building skills;
• are organised and resilient, and demonstrate a highly solution-focussed approach to addressing issues and situations.
• have a track record of strong, inclusive EYFS practice;
• have a good understanding of the EYFS statutory requirements;
• have a contagious enthusiasm for learning, and practice which engages children by stimulating their imagination and curiosity;
• are passionate about values-based education and developing lifelong learners;
• are committed to upholding every child’s right to be included, accepted, and valued for their strengths and contributions;
• are willing to work across the infant phase as the need arises in future years.

We would welcome visits to the school on Thursday 8th May at 4.15pm. Please contact the school office on 01603 457120 if you wish to arrange a tour.
