The DWP Synergy Programme is responsible for assuring the design and implementing Synergy changes into DWP.
Working closely with the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) the Programme Director will represent DWP in the Synergy Programme. You will lead and manage a significant programme of work, collaborating with senior stakeholders and leading business readiness across the department as we design, procure and implement cloud-based end to end Enterprise Resource Planning.
A significant amount of effort is needed to coordinate activity across DWP to ensure the products and services under the agreed Common Design fit and the organisation is ready for the changes.
DWP Synergy critical activities include:
- Supporting the development and assurance of the design, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Business Process Services (BPS), Future Shared Services Organisation (FSSO) and transition.
- Resolving cross functional design and delivery issues.
- Managing DWP activities to ensure they keep pace with Core Synergy Programme demands and timeline.
- Ensuring the organisation is ready to receive Synergy changes - change impacting and readiness planning is underway.
- Providing assurance to DWP Director General Sponsor and Accounting Officer.
As Programme Director you will:
- Provide visible leadership to the DWP Synergy Programme and represent the department in the Synergy Programme. Responsible for managing an annual budget of £10 million.
- Cultivate and manage a range of relationships and key strategic alliances with internal / external stakeholders to build excellent working and high value relationships with a wide range of senior colleagues up to Director General level.
- Lead programme delivery through robust and effective planning, control and governance functions across a multi-disciplinary programme team of circa 80 colleagues, focused on delivery of the agreed plan.
- Work collaboratively with Business Change colleagues to prepare for and shape activities that will deliver new ways of working into the department.
- Safeguard continuity of service provision now and in the future – ensuring system delivery and continuity.
- Build a high performing, inclusive multidisciplinary programme team comprising of HR, Finance, Digital, Change and Commercial professionals.
- Establish appropriate governance and assurance, monitoring progress, managing risks and issues, ensuring business readiness for change.
- Ensure strategic and operational risks and issues are identified, prioritised, assessed and mitigated. Ensure senior stakeholders are briefed, updated and where appropriate enrolled, in the management and control of key risks. Identify and engage specialists as appropriate. Provide strategic leadership in monitoring benefit delivery and to maximise benefits from the programme.
- Identify success criteria, setting project controls and be accountable for performance. Monitor and control progress, engage fully with assurance and respond to recommendations.
- Create an environment in which the project can succeed – working effectively together and managing dependencies. Deliver benefits and outcomes set out in business case.
- Quality Assure the dependency management process, work with senior stakeholders to resolve issues and act as a link between the overall Synergy Programme and DWP business governance.
