The Freeman Hospital is a tertiary referral centre for supra-regional, regional and sub-regional surgical specialities including the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and the UKs only Institute of Transplantation. Specialties at the Royal Victoria Infirmary include the Level 1 Trauma care, The Great North Children's Hospital, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology, and Cancer Services. Within both sites the dedicated Nuclear Medicine team deliver specialist services to patients on the wards and to outpatients. The role requires working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality service using a patient centred approach. Your main duties across site will involve the assessment, monitoring and care of patients undergoing nuclear medicine and DEXA procedures within the main departments . This is an excellent opportunity for staff wishing to increase their clinical skills and maintain close patient contact whilst developing their clinical skills. Opportunities for further training and development are available. Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust define a nurse specialist as a qualified nurse where the primary purpose of role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to patients, carers and health professionals concerning a specific disease/condition. Within the sphere of specialist practice: Is working towards advanced knowledge and skills within specialist sphere of practice. Contributes to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients. Support the development of nursing practice within the specialist field and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge. Contributes to training and education within specialist area.
