Job Summary: The Practice Nurse will work as part of the wider practice team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to our patient population. The role involves working independently and as part of a team to provide general practice nursing services, supporting patients in managing their health and long-term conditions, and promoting health and wellbeing within your scope of practice. Key Responsibilities:Clinical Duties: Provide general nursing care, treatment, and advice to patients in accordance with clinical protocols and practice policies Carry out cervical cytology (smear tests) Provide routine immunisations for children and adults (including travel vaccines where appropriate) Provide wound care, dressings, suture removal, and other general treatment procedures Undertake health screening and NHS Health Checks Support and manage patients with chronic diseases, particularly respiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD Assist with health promotion, lifestyle advice, smoking cessation, weight management, and contraception Support patients with learning disabilities and mental health needs in accessing appropriate care Provide advice and support for minor illnesses, where appropriate and within scope of practice Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using EMIS clinical system Teamwork and Communication: Work collaboratively with the GPs, Physician Associate, nursing team, and wider staff to deliver coordinated patient care Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and significant event reviews Liaise effectively with community and secondary care providers where needed Contribute to QOF, enhanced services, and other quality improvement programmes Professional Responsibilities: Maintain professional registration and adhere to NMC Code of Conduct Participate in clinical supervision, appraisals, and CPD activities Undertake relevant training and development to maintain clinical competencies Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical guidelines, best practices, and legislative requirements
