Skills & Experience:

HNC, HND, Degree relevant to the built environment or a proven track record and 3 years’ experience of working for a local authority, housing provider or other appropriate provider in a relevant field.
Knowledge of typical contractual mechanisms and industry legislation e.g. the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act
Basic knowledge of housing repairs legislation and standards e.g. the decent homes standard/HHSRS
Experience of undertaking building surveys and planning and managing the resultant works.
Experience of project managing major works with customers in their homes or business premises
Experience of monitoring and managing budgets for individual projects.
Experience of managing contractor performance
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Excellent problem solving ability



Desirable:

Qualified membership of either the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or any other equivalent professional membership, e.g. MCABE.
Sound technical knowledge of Fire Safety, Asbestos, Building Services including Gas, Mechanical & Electrical services.
Post qualification working experience in excess of 2 years



What's involved with this role: We are seeking a skilled and driven Building Surveyor with strong expertise in Disrepair and HHSRS to join the Technical Team. In this key role, you’ll lead on assessing property conditions, resolving disrepair issues, and supporting planned and cyclical works—ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and future-ready. You’ll contribute to project delivery across residential and corporate stock while ensuring legal obligations are met and customer satisfaction remains high.

Key duties:

Plan, specify, procure, manage, and deliver a range of planned works and maintenance projects, including surveys, inspections, feasibility studies, and contract documentation to ensure statutory compliance and asset upkeep.
Act as the main contact for project-related queries, providing technical advice to clients, resolving work requests, and supporting Building Managers through all project stages.
Oversee contracts and project works by managing valuations, accounts, risk registers, and contractor performance, ensuring procedures are followed and works are properly recorded and audited.
Ensure all works meet Health and Safety regulations, including CDM 2007, and other relevant legislation, maintaining high safety standards across all project activities.
Interpret condition data and risk assessments to plan and deliver effective repair and improvement programmes, and contribute to accurate data management for future service planning.
