Summary

Do you thrive on leading meaningful projects that deliver real impact? Are you a highly organised self-starter who can drive complex initiatives from vision to reality? Join Essex Wildlife Trust as a Project Manager and play a vital role in protecting wildlife and connecting people with nature.

We’re looking for an experienced project lead who can manage diverse programmes, inspire teams and deliver successful outcomes. Initially you’ll oversee two high profile projects: delivering our 2030 vision at Thameside Nature Discovery Park and development of our Head Office and flagship reserve at Abbotts Hall. These projects make a vital contribution towards our bold ambition to ensure 30% of land and sea in Essex is actively managed for nature’s recovery by 2030 and 1 in 4 people in Essex take action for nature and climate by 2030.

With a strong grasp of both strategic planning and operational delivery, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, funders and key stakeholders, and ensure every milestone is met on time and within budget. You’ll be adept at adapting to changes and managing a complex set of shifting priorities.

This is the most important decade in the history of nature conservation and an exciting time to be joining us. We need the best people to rally around and help tackle the climate and ecological crisis. You will be joining a brilliant team of experienced Project Managers and will be working closely with experts in their field across conservation, engagement and commercial teams.

This role is a two-year fixed-term position working 37.5 hours per week with a starting salary of £35,148.00 per annum. We welcome applications from a range of sectors and transferable skills. This is a two-year contract, but with a portfolio of projects needed to deliver our ambitious Strategic Plan 2030, there is likely to be future opportunities beyond this contract.

Essex Wildlife Trust are the county’s leading conservation charity, committed to protecting wildlife and inspiring a lifelong love of nature; and we would love you to join our committed and enthusiastic team. Our values are Impactful, Collaborative, United and Proactive.

If you would like an informal chat about the role, please do feel free to contact hannahs@essexwt.org.uk

To apply, please complete the online application form on our website by 9am on Thursday 9 May 2025. Interviews will be held on Monday 19 May 2025 at Abbotts Hall (online option available). Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications or successfully appoint a candidate before the advertised closing date. Early applications are therefore encouraged.
