Mosstowie Primary School is a non-denominational, rural school with 69 pupils across three composite classes: P1-2, P3-5 and P5-7. The school is situated approximately three and a half miles west of Elgin in a picturesque setting between the adjoining communities of Miltonduff, Pluscarden and Mosstowie. The school has a functional capacity of 75 pupils with maximum intake of 69 pupils, within Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) decile 4-10 (mainly SIMD 8). Attendance is very positive, above national averages and attainment is strong overall, where all pupils are supported to learn and achieve.

Requirements

To provide professional leadership and management of the school ensuring the safety of all pupils and conducting the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the Head of Education (Chief Education Officer).
The duties of the Head Teacher are:
1. To lead and manage learning and teaching
2. To lead and develop staff, children and young people
3. To lead change and improvement
4. Use resources effectively 5. Building community
