As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.

Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Quantity Surveyor who has a number of years’ experience in managing all costs and income associated within their area of responsibility on building and civil engineering projects to support the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar.

What you'll be doing

  • Use the company’s ERP and Digital Systems.
  • Orders information and systematically checks data.
  • Measures, records & values work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures.
  • Preparation of cost reconciliation statements.
  • Measures & interprets works information, specifications & drawings and prepares bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
  • Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates.
  • Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors.
  • Review weekly, monthly, section programmes of works.
  • Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of section programmes.
  • Collation of Cost and Value Information.
  • Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertake customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility.
  • Understanding of delay and disruption programmes.

Who we're looking for

  • BSc or MSc degree in Quantity Surveying preferred but not essential.
  • Chartered status (MRICS or similar) or actively working towards.
  • Previous involvement in a high-profile project would be desirable.
  • CSCS Card (Academically Qualified/Professional Qualified Person).
