About the role

Balfour Beatty has an amazing opportunity for a Package Manager to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London.

HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

This role is suitable for a Section Engineer to act as a Package Manager. Looking after the delivery of subcontractor packages for architectural fit-out, ensuring alignment
with overall project objectives. You will also be responsible for coordinating and managing interfaces with related packages, including MEPH, lifts, escalators, and others, to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

What you'll be doing

Core & Leadership

  • Uphold Team Old Oak values and Zero Harm culture.

  • Lead and coach team, manage performance, and delegate effectively.

HSE

  • Review RAMS, oversee Permits to Work, support incident investigations, and ensure temporary works are planned and compliant.

Engineering & Quality

  • Ensure technical compliance and resolve site issues.

  • Lead quality processes, handover documentation, inspections, and audits.

Productivity & Programme

  • Develop and track programmes and KPIs.

  • Monitor progress, address delays, and align with short-term planning.

Commercial

  • Manage subcontractor performance, procurement, cost tracking, and project records.

  • Issue formal correspondence with stakeholders.

Who we're looking for

Qualifications & Certifications
  • Essential:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

    • Valid CSCS card

  • Desirable:

    • Master’s degree or Chartered status (ICE/APM/CEng)

    • SMSTS

  • Commercially aware with experience in procurement and cost recovery documentation
