Job Introduction
Are you experienced in stores or warehouse operations and ready to take the next step in a dynamic, technical environment? We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Stores Storekeeperto support our Technical Stores team at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester. You'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining stock control, and supporting both our engineering teams and clients through reliable and safe service delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports a diverse defence engineering and FM environment while contributing to essential site operations and safety.
What you'll do:
Receive, check, and issue stores materials in line with company procedures.
Maintain stock levels and support deliveries, returns, and general warehouse duties.
Assist the Warehouse and Distribution Senior Storekeepers or Military Line Manager when required.
Uphold health, safety, and welfare standards, adhering to Sodexo and legislative policies.
Keep the store area organised and compliant with health & safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with the Service Delivery team, including engineers and management.
Escort deliveries and ensure accurate processing of incoming and outgoing goods.
Respond to queries through the Technical Mailbox, ensuring timely resolution.
Support ongoing audits and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by management.
What you bring:
Previous experience in a warehouse or stores environment
Practical numerical and communication skills
Good understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare in the workplace
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong customer service focus
Full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years
Must be 25+ years old (for insurance purposes related to company vehicle use)
Desirable:
Prior experience in a similar technical/FM storekeeping role
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Forklift licence
Basic understanding of FM-related stock such as electrical, mechanical, and plumbing parts
