Home Office Digital, Data and Technology designs, builds and develops services for the rest of the department and for government. Every year our systems support up to 3 million visa applications, checks on 100 million border crossings, up to 8 million passport applications and deliver 140 million police checks on people, vehicles and property.
DDaT is building an internal digital adoption capability with a strategic approach within our Enterprise Services, End User Compute and Collaboration (EUC&C) Team. EUC&C’s vision is "To empower HO staff by providing an outstanding designed user experience through the right IT products" and is responsible for ensuring that over 60k civil servants and suppliers have the IT tools to do their jobs.
The EUC&C Head of Digital Adoption Services will be responsible for the strategy and team that drive wide adoption of digital products through its campaigns, promotions, communication, education, training and support aimed at increasing digital adoption and confidence in using digital tools across the Home Office.
You will use your expert knowledge and experience together with your strategic knowledge of the organisation and highly developed communications and influencing skills to ensure the full realisation of digital benefits. You will lead adoption activities that will help to drive adoption of digital products. You will contribute to driving up digital literacy and confidence amongst users in order to create the environment to maximise the benefits of the tolls being delivered. You will help to inform better user experience through feedback loops with users, bringing your perspective and insight to ensure the business objectives and product outcomes are aligned and measured for success.
You will also work collaboratively with strategic partners persuading business areas to take full advantage of opportunities to exploit existing digital tools to help solve current and future business problems and increase the return on investment. You will be able to position the adoption services to persuade business areas of the benefits of engaging with the adoption services. As part of the adoption approach, you will participate in the growing cross government digital adoption community.
You will keep abreast of the latest developments in the digital workplace technologies and change methodologies, including any knowledge, best practice and innovations from the cross government digital adoption community of experts.
This is a challenging and fast paced role, positioned at the heart of a dynamic and changing area of DDaT. You will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team on a number of high profile workstreams. This role will include line management of the Digital Adoption team. You will provide leadership and vision ensuring they are aligned to the work of EUC&C and the wider department.
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
- Setting and implementing the Digital Adoption vision and strategy for the EUC&C securing buy-in from senior stakeholders.
- Directing the definition, development, and embedding of standards, guidelines and processes that promote change management best practice and consistent ways of working, assuring quality of the digital adoption services.
- Leading, developing and line managing the Digital Adoption Team, providing leadership and governance, ensuring best value and best practice.
- Providing leadership and governance digital adoption activity covering the design and delivery of the digital adoption services, drawn from team analysis of existing processes and recommended improvements.
- Building strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, helping to educate them in the importance and benefits of digital adoption and services and supporting their needs.
- Ensuring that you and your team have a thorough understanding of EUC&C products and services to facilitate the right change, adoption and training activities.
- Contributing to and informing product backlogs through a thorough understanding of the work and products of EUC&C.
- Ensuring current and future resourcing needs for the Digital Adoption Team are met, by upskilling, hiring new talent and allocating resources as required.
You will also be expected to carry out the following day to day activities:
- Managing the relationship and acting as the interface with the wider Home Office community and other government departments, including facilitating and leading meetings where relevant.
- Evaluating the Digital Adoption Services work across the organisation, acting on results.
Working Pattern
This role is available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 30 hours per week due to business requirements.
Travel
Regular travel will be required to Home Office sites across the UK. Some overnight stays may be required.
