Crynodeb
• To Provide a specialist clinical service with responsibility to a caseload
specific to the role for children with developmental speech and language
delays / disorders / social communication / feeding or swallowing difficulties
as relevant to the role.
• To provide a service at settings within designated locality, working closely
with parents/carers, schools staff and other relevant professionals, to enable
children to develop their speech, language and communication skills and to
access the age relevant curriculum
• To assess the needs for, develop and implement Speech and Language
Therapy treatment to children referred within designated locality and
presenting with a wide range of speech, language and communication
difficulties
• To understand and meet professional and legal SEND responsibilities
outlined in the Children and Families Act 2014 including contributing to
statutory assessments of special educational needs and delivery of Speech
and Language Therapy prov
• To manage and prioritise own caseload independently, demonstrating skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management
• To assess the need for, develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred within designated locality with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties
• To deliver Speech and Language Therapy provision to children as specified in Education Health and Care Plans in line with the Children and Families Act 2014
• To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures relevant to the field, in particular in the field(s) of specialisation

To provide advice to parents and carers regarding the management and support of children with a wide range of communication difficulties ensuring carry over from school to home
To deal with initial complaints sensitively, avoiding escalation where possible
To negotiate with others around case management in complex cases
To provide counselling for parents, carers/clients with highly complex needs
To provide line management, clinical supervision and support to less experienced including Speech and Language Therapy Students and qualified Speech and Language Therapists.
