Qualification - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Road Line Marking Operations or equivalent Qualification

Driving Licence– The successful candidate should hold a full clean driving licence as you will be required to drive a vehicle adhering to council regulations.

Manchester City Councils Highways Maintenance Service Department has a key role to play in the maintenance of our highway network across the city, making sure our highways are maintained to the highest standards and are safe for all road users. To achieve this, we are looking for an individual who is proactive with a get the job done safely attitude to meet this challenging role.

The role holder will need knowledge of the organisation’s relevant procedures or practices plus additional practical and procedural knowledge in order to do this job. The role holder also needs a detailed understanding of the relevant legislation related to their area of work and an outline understanding of the underlying concepts and principles of the specialist area within which this job operates, the role also requires the holder to possess detailed knowledge of some of the policies covering their technical or specialist area of responsibility. Manchester City Council has a duty to maintain the Highway network across the city, this includes the maintenance of all types of road lining.We at Highway Maintenance Services pride ourselves in providing a successful dedicated service that maintains all of the road lining within the City of Manchester.

If you are successful, you will join a highly skilled and dedicated professional workforce within our Highway Maintenance Services team.

You as the Thermoplastic Line Marking Operative will have a major role to play in maintaining the fantastic level of service we provide and build and improve our thermoplastic lining service to make it even better.

You will achieve this by using your existing knowledge and high level of experience to meet existing levels of service and drive forward continuous improvement in the service. To help you achieve the above, we will provide you with a new state of the art lining vehicle and the equipment you need to carry out your work.

We would love to hear from you if you have experience of  working as a member of team, you are a go getter, not afraid to meet demanding situations head on, be a good team player and lead by example.

You will already be working as a thermoplastic line marking operative and gained extensive experience in the industry and also gained Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Road Line Marking Operations or equivalent.

You will hold a current Class 2 HGV driving licence and have considerable experience of operating a thermoplastic lining vehicle.

You must show through experience that you can comply will all workplace health, safety and welfare legislation requirements like PPE, RPE, LEV, recognise hazards associated with the workplace like, substances, asbestos, equipment, obstructions, storage and working conditions, comply with organisational policies like H&S at work act 1974, Construction design management 2015, must be an experienced operator with New Roads and Street Works Act.

Must be able to show the following: -

·Attention to detail and precision in reading and interpreting road marking plans and designs is crucial.

· Equipment Operation: Experience in operating road marking equipment and machinery is necessary.

Must have experience in preparing carriageway surfaces by washing down, sweeping and drying off using a gas double headed burner dryer before applying the following: -

·Hot applied thermoplastic antiskid surfacing.

·Continuous White Lines.

· Intermittent White Lines.

· Double White Lines.

· Various White Arrows.

· Triangles.

· Mini Roundabouts.

· Letters and numerals.

· Cycle Symbols.

· Speed Hump Warning triangles.

· Waiting Limit and Parking Place lines.

· Traverse Lines.

· Delineation of Vehicular Access lines.

· Hatching Lines.

· Markings for Speed Camera Locations.

· Waiting Restrictions. Continuous Lines) (Yellow Lines)

· Box Markings, (Yellow Lines).

· School Keep Clear, Zig-Zag Lines, Yellow Lines).

· Kerb Tabs, (Yellow).

· Installation of Various Road Studs.

· Installing Various Thermoplastic Roundels.

· Tack Coating.

· Removal of existing road markings using a high-pressure gas and air lance.
