A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Applications are invited for a consultant in Otolaryngology with a sub-specialty interest in Facial Plastic Surgery and Rhinology. We are happy to consider candidates who have deferred their specialist fellowships, and who require a proleptic appointment or sabbatical to complete these.

This substantive appointment is to support the needs of the ENT department and to ensure succession planning for the future. The post is a direct replacement for a retiring Facial Plastic and Rhinology surgeon and presents a unique opportunity to establish a new local practice both within the NHS and private practice. Successful candidates will complement the skills of the department and work flexibly within the team across the Norfolk and Waveney combined Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) service.

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

We welcome all applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. Additionally, people with disabilities will be offered an interview providing they meet the minimum criteria for the post. The Trust operates job share and flexible working.

The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. There is a good culture of collaboration between the NNUH and JPUH and staff are expected to continue to honour this commitment on appointment.

The appointee will be participating in a 1 in 8 weekday on-calls, and 1 in 11 weekends on-call, possibly rising to 1 in 12 with the addition of further consultant staff. This may be subject to change according to workforce requirements.

All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.

The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.

Further, the appointee will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, whereby all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.

Join us at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and be part of a workforce of over 10,000 staff!
