Overview:
Social Security Scotland is looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Associate Cloud Engineer to support and maintain our infrastructure solutions and services. Working in a team of infrastructure and applications specialists, you will be responsible for the delivery and support of new applications and infrastructure components which underpin our business and customer facing services.

As an Associate Cloud Engineer you will support, manage and maintain the core infrastructure that underpins production services.
You will work in an established team and support infrastructure operations engineers in their daily work, under their direction.
You will be responsible for the ongoing management and support of the Social Security AWS hosted infrastructure environments, administering the cloud infrastructure, and deploying artefacts following procedures and runbooks. You will plan and schedule cloud infrastructure maintenance tasks in line with change management procedures and maintain knowledge of this area of the ICT specialism to suggest enhancements or modernisation where applicable.
As a trainee, you will work in an established team and support infrastructure operations engineers in their daily work, under their direction.
DDaT Pay Supplement:
This post is part of the Scottish Government Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) profession and as a member of the profession you will join the professional development system. This post currently attracts a £5,000 annual DDAT pay supplement, applicable after a 3 months competency qualifying period. The payment will be backdated to your start date in the role. Pay supplements are reviewed regularly and there is one currently underway. Changes will be communicated when the review is concluded.
Main Duties:
• Identify and register incidents, gathering the required information and allocating it to the appropriate channel.
• Show an awareness of problem resolution processes.
• Investigate problems in systems, processes and services, with an understanding of the level of a problem (for example, strategic, tactical or operational).
• Contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
• Show an awareness or understanding of user experience analysis and its principles.
