This post requires the post holder to act as a co-ordinating (clinical) supervisor for trainees undertaking recognised training routes. To be eligible, the post holder should have two years post registration experience at the point of taking up post. However, applications will be welcomed from psychologists who have a minimum of 18 months post registration experience; although they will not be able to formally take up the post until they have been registered for two years.

HMP Frankland is a high security site based in the north east of England. We currently have vacancies for B8 Senior Registered Forensic Psychologists. The postholders will join a large psychology team and will be involved in the day to day management of the team as well as development and management of a core area. This post is based entirely on site at Frankland.

The prison has over 800 men with a significant Cat A population. Psychologists in Frankland have a range of responsibilities, which includes the assessment of high risk, complex and diverse cases, intervention work, consultancy, research, training and development, as well as providing support to prison staff in various groups in the prison. Many of the prisoners in Frankland are serving life/indeterminate sentences or very long determinate sentences. Offences include serious violent and sexual offences, terrorism offences and organised crime such as drug trafficking and armed robbery. In addition psychologists work into discrete units in the prison.

The psychology team are involved in a broad range of work across the prison and the post provides a good opportunity to develop a range of skills as a practitioner. Core areas of work include:

· Risk assessments and report writing (including parole and Cat A reviews);

· Working in a consultancy capacity in a range of areas e.g. Safety, IPP; OPD; Staff Wellbeing;

· Staff supervision and development across operational grades.

· Development and supervision of trainee psychologists.

· Working with a range of complex men on an individual or group basis;

· Research and review of core policy areas e.g. Neurodiversity, Safety, Young Adults

· Provision of accredited interventions. We were one of the Design Test sites for Building Choices.

We are a well-established team in with good working relationships across the prison.
