Crynodeb

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trauma & Orthopaedic team at the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. This is a 12-month contract from August 2025. The goal of the Fellowship is to take a peri-CCT, or equivalent, Orthopaedic Surgeon and, in a twelve-month training programme, take them to a level at which they are capable of an independent practice in orthopaedics, specialising in trauma surgery. These fellowships are recognised for training and are aimed at peri-CCT, or equivalent, candidates wishing to gain further experience in Trauma Surgery, with a view to seeking a consultant post with this specialist interest. Service development may involve some alteration in the program during the attachment. The post supports the clinical activity of the Trauma Team. There is on-call commitment including weekend operating. The candidate will have time for research. The post offers directly supervised operating with Consultant support to practise acquired surgical skills. The Major Trauma Fellow takes part in the general registrar on call. This is a 1 in 20 on call which includes resident day and night on calls at the Aintree site. There are also resident days and non resident night on calls covering the Central Liverpool site. This post therefore attracts a weekend allowance of 5%; a night premium with allowance for leave; and an availability uplift of 8% Teaching sessions will involve case conference and teaching sessions. The fellows will be expected to attend national Trauma conferences and present research work at national and/ or international meetings. There will be regular assignment of seminal literature to read and learn.
