Summary

Engineering is a critical part of what makes buildings work and our mechanical & electrical engineers play a key role in planning and completing a range of maintenance work.

This includes industrial & commercial building services, engineering systems such as heating & ventilation, mechanical & electrical services, pumps, motors, invetors, actuator valves, building management systems, water supply, waste and drainage. They also carry out electrical isolation, disconnection, reconnection and reactivation services.

Planned preventative maintenance and carrying out remedial repairs within all of these infrastructure services is also a key part of their role, as well as monitoring and managing the operation of plant and equipment through building & energy management systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Participate and learn all M&E reactive and planned maintenance tasks allocated by a mentor
  • Gain an understanding of how to complete site-based log books and engage with online learning modules containing all risk assessment, method statement, and standard operating procedures
  • Review & understand engineering drawings
  • Fault finding to indentify faulty components and replace if required
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety requirements, adhering to best working practice
  • Undertake relevant HR processes including notification of absence, holidays, training needs and completion of timesheets
  • Attend college, engage in the curriculum and associated exams, and keep the business informed of all progress - including day to day liaison with the mentor and managers
  • Build a wider business awareness

To be sucessful you'll have:

  • GCSE in English, Maths and Science (grade A-C)
  • Engineering qualification (an advantage but not essential)
  • Understanding of basic engineering principles (an advantage but not essential)
  • Driving Licence (an advantage but not essential)

We would welcome candidates with industry and life experience.

Other Factors

  • We have partnered with regional training providers and the training will be completed in a day release format, meaning all candidates must be prepared to attend this location
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00am - 17:00pm (45 hours)
  • The duration of the apprenticeship will be between 36 and 48 months
