CNC Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and innovative Junior R&D Assistant/Food Technologist to join our client in Beaminster. You will provide key technical support role for Innovation and renovations projects, value engineering initiatives whilst maintaining organoleptic blend standards and ensuring a high level of technical integrity is maintained with regards to product quality, safety and legality for all aspects of product design and lifecycle management.
Location – Beaminster
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £26,200.00-£28,000.00 per year pus yearly bonus
Working hours – Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 5pm
Responsibilities:
Support project coordination activities and general R&D administration
Creation and management of Internal Specifications (BECPG System) for Raw Materials, Semi-Finished Products, Packaging and Finished Products
Producing recipe development prototypes for Innovation, Renovation and Value Engineering
Organisation of outgoing development samples for internal (MSOs) and external customers and supporting communications as required.
Coordinating and setting up tasting and bench marking sessions both internally and to support customer visits and capturing minutes
Provision of Technical Information for SAP Master data uploads via Evolve portal
Regulatory/technical Artwork checks (once trained)
Support planning and implementation of Industrial trials
Assists with product registration and approval process for Organic and Fairtrade Certification
Other general support duties
Technical skills and knowledge:
Knowledge of GFSI Standards
Good knowledge of food safety (e.g.: HACCP, microbiology, allergens) principles
Good organoleptic assessment skills and knowledge of benchmarking/quality basket reviews
Good communication and organization skills
Proficient administrative support
Good understanding of product composition and recipe development
Understanding of product labelling requirements
Requirements
Experience working within food industry in technical (Quality or R&D or regulatory) remit beneficial or exposure to same within higher education e.g. Food Science related University Graduate.
Others:
Exposure to food quality disciplines
Specification understanding and writing
NPD, understanding of timelines and working to Innovation stage gate process
Regulatory understanding, navigation and interpretation
Sampling, Benchmarking and organoleptic assessment
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
