Crynodeb
We are a small, agile team focussed on developing policy proposals to the emerging issues facing the culture and creative industries sectors such as our long-term approach to cultural funding, making the most of AI opportunities and devolving decision making and spend to our Mayors.
We are an outward facing team, with significant collaboration with other government departments, the devolved governments, Mayoral Strategic Authorities, DCMS arms length bodies and the sector.
The team is currently focussed on developing proposals for Spending Review, developing the Creative Industries Sector Plan, delivering engagement with various levels of governments and our sectors in the UK’s nations and regions, and some grant delivery.
This is an outwards facing role and significant stakeholder management and relationship building is at its centre. The postholder will be responsible for developing and overseeing DCMS’ approach to culture and the creative industries across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There will be an emphasis on developing strong networks across the devolved governments, arts councils and sectors to deliver both DCMS and shared objectives.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Delivering a multi million pound grant to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society.
- Leading DCMS engagement with the British Irish Council.
- Establishing and maintaining effective fora for information exchange and joint working with UK Government departments, devolved governments and the sector.
- Lead ministerial briefing for visits to and engagement with stakeholders from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland such as the Edinburgh Festivals.
- Work on parliamentary questions and briefing across the wider team.
