The role is both a clinical and leadership role. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care delivered to unwell patient's during the out of hours period. They are expected to undertake comprehensive health care needs of patients through clinical assessments in conjunction with the Band 7 practitioner. Part of the role includes being triaging bleeps/calls from the ward staff and providing appropriate advice as well as coordinating the workloads of nurse practioner's and medical staff accordingly as appropriate.

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies and be able to interpret information and take appropriate action and lead others to do so.

They should be able to provide care, knowledge, and expertise, whilst being continually aware of the importance of empowering colleagues to ensure dissemination of knowledge and best practice. The Practitioner will communicate with clinicians as necessary as well as contributing to and support the work of colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team out of hours.

The individual must be able to demonstrate the mandatory competencies of the Trust, attending all required mandatory updates.

We are looking to recruit a Nurse Practitioner (Band 6) to our Out of Hours service located in Manchester Royal Infirmary. The team operates every night, including weekends and bank holidays, with twilight shifts starting at 4 p.m. throughout the week.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team. If you have an interest in developing your skills in this area, we would really like to hear from you. In return you will be supported by senior team members to develop and expand on the necessary knowledge and skills required to deliver excellent patient service out of hours. We will support the on-going development of your portfolio of clinical skills and competencies. You will also be provided with clinical supervision and peer support and offer regular training and education.
