We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Equine Dentistry and Head and Neck Surgery.



The Opportunity:

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, seeks an outstanding and enthusiastic specialist veterinary dental and head and neck surgeon to join the Dick Vet Equine Hospital equine dental team.

The post will involve provision of referral dental surgical services in Scotland’s, largest and most advanced equine hospital, and is supported by a large, multidisciplinary team. A new surgical facility, access to advanced imaging, and a selection of equipment unrivalled in this country, means this is a unique opportunity.

The successful candidate will have excellent general equine dental and head and neck surgical skills.

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is committed to the provision of advanced equine surgical and medical care for horses across Scotland and the north of England, and this post provides the opportunity to contribute to peripatetic clinical work, continuing education and student training in remote and rural locations across this beautiful country.

The post holder will provide training to undergraduate students and postgraduate veterinary surgeons and have access to significant support to develop a research portfolio (The School of Veterinary Medicine incorporates the world famous Roslin Institute, with which the Equine Hospital is closely aligned).

The successful candidate will be a member, or eligible to become a member, of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and hold a specialist qualification in Equine Dentistry and Equine Surgery. A post-graduate research degree would be advantageous but is not essential.

This role will also include a contribution to the provision of general out of hours emergency surgery services, on a rotational basis.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Excellent general equine dentistry skills and expertise in equine dental and general surgery.
Be a member (or eligible for membership) of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Hold a specialist qualification in Equine Dentistry (DipEVDC/DipAVDC) and Equine Surgery (DipECVS/DipACVS
Must have appropriate English language qualification
