Are you someone who enjoys helping others, has a caring nature, and is a confident driver? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the community-based services team at The Greatham Foundation as a Care Assistant – Minibus Driver.

In this rewarding role, you will be supporting people living with dementia or memory impairment by:
- Safely collecting people from their homes and transporting them to our day centres
- Supporting them with meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and independence
- Helping to reduce social isolation and enhance quality of life
- Ensuring people feel valued, comfortable, and supported throughout their day

You’ll be based across two welcoming centres: The Heathers Day Centre in Hartlepool and Minerva House in East Durham, working as part of a friendly, supportive team.

What We’re Looking For:
- A compassionate, patient, and dependable individual
- Good understanding or experience of supporting people with dementia
- Physically and mentally resilient – the work can be challenging, but incredibly rewarding
- A full, clean UK driving licence
- Willingness to undertake a MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) certificate or PCV Licence

Key Duties
- Whilst covering the driver responsibilities you will be responsible for transport and safety of guests from home to the day centre and home at the end of each day, or to another community-based venue as required.
- Providing care duties associated with transport services. For example, assisting passengers to prepare for the journey and to and from and on and off the vehicle and ensuring passengers are safe and comfortable when on the vehicle
- General maintenance and cleaning of the bus, reporting all faults to the relevant Manager.
- To assist people with all aspects of personal care requirements to maintain dignity and wellbeing at all times.
- To provide personal and social care to people in accordance with needs
- To help with serving of meals, refreshments and assisting people where necessary. Helping to clear away the dishes afterwards.
- =To help people to lead as full a life as possible and to organise activities e.g. crafts, games, reading, reminisce etc.

Key requirements
- Valid current UK driving license
- At least two years’ experience of working with older people in a care setting,
